Chaos at Carapace Station
Chaos at Carapace Station is a Themed Entertainment Design
project done during my time at SCAD. We were given the task of creating an entirely new attraction based on an original story.

NOTE: Script writing is not my specialty, but I felt like writing a script would help keep the group on the same page. Previous to this, members of the group had different understanding of what the events and meaning of the story, and that had created communication issues. By creating this script, I was able to unify the group to work efficiently together throughout the project.
In addition to the actual story, there is an underlying theme of the two sides of industrialism, the economic benefit and the environmental repercussions. The purpose isn't to say anything is good or bad, but to bring awareness to promote visitors to decide where they think the balance should be.
The story begins as guests are invited into the headquarters of Xcorp, a mining and refinery company. There are lockers available for guests to store personal belongings. The queue consists of a museum of the history of the company: past projects, precious materials and artifacts found, and the unveiling of a new project: Carapace Station, the first fully functioning underwater mining facility. The aesthetic is grand and bright, representing the economic value of industrialism and harvesting practicing.
Once guests begin the actual ride, however, there is a sudden change in aesthetic. This is a purposeful way to jar guests as they enter the mining facility, that represents the environmental downside of industry. The materials and lighting get darker and more metallic.
